Working Out PTSD
WORKING OUT PTSD·FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2018
Allow us to introduce ourselves to you. We are Jenny Lou Merrell and Julia Wilson. We started Working Out PTSD after our sons, Aaron Merrell and Tyler Wilson both lost their battle with PTSD after serving as United States Marines and fighting in Afghanistan. It is our mission and passion that no other families of veterans suffer the loss that we have endured, and in turn we provide gym memberships to local veterans for free. We both agreed that one of the ‘signs’ that we missed in our sons was that they both quit working out, which had always been an important part of their lives. It is proven that working out helps maintain a positive attitude, improves health and self-esteem, and can provide a brotherhood like they had in the military. All of the local gyms are partnering with us to provide gym memberships for a reduced cost. This allows us to help more veterans!
After our tragedy many people have asked us “what can I do to help?” Well, our Working Out PTSD foundation is your opportunity to help LOCAL VETS. We held our first fundraiser in May 2017 and since then we have put over 40+ vets in the gym! The vets do not need a PTSD diagnosis, we provide these free gym memberships to any veteran. It’s a great way for us to say Thank You to our local veterans. Would you please consider partnering with us to help with our mission?
